Chief Executive Officer
As Co-founder and CEO, Arees has an active role in overseeing the operations of the business. The majority of his time is spent analyzing business opportunities and developing concepts to better serve Golden State Surfaces, Inc. clients and organically grow the business. With his experience and strategic partnering, Arees has the foresight to create positive change in the flooring industry by infusing his business mind and general construction knowledge.
Being an entrepreneur at heart, in 2002, Arees formed a development company to serve healthcare providers with design and construction services. As years past, he saw an opportunity in providing a serviced based company that would provide flooring systems to facilities he had built and clients who were accustomed to his quality and excellence. In 2013, Golden State Surfaces, Inc. was put on the map serving the community with flooring solutions across the state of California. His strategic alliances and knowledge of how healthcare facilities function gave GSS clients the edge in performing flooring projects within selective budgets and in occupied spaces which allows for the facility to maintain expected cash flows.
Arees is married to his high school sweetheart, has three children and lives in Huntington Beach, California. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, watches and coaches his kid’s sports, loves to garden and care for his animals. Arees also loves to travel and is extremely active in his local community where he serves on the Board for The Boys & Girls Club and Huntington Beach Police Officers Foundation. If you ask him what his greatest success has been, it would be his family.

As the Co-founder and Vice President of GSS, Steve plays a crucial role in steering the company’s projects and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction. He embodies a strong foundation characterized by patience, engaging communication, meticulous organization, and an unwavering drive for success. Over the past decade, these qualities have significantly contributed to the company’s remarkable growth and prestigious standing in the industry.
Steve embarked on his professional journey at the young age of 16, where he quickly began to cultivate an impressive work ethic and honed his customer service skills. His venture into the flooring industry came when he assumed the role of account manager, a position in which he developed an extensive understanding of client needs and intricate project management processes. His organized methodology and sharp attention to detail have proven indispensable in coordinating seamless operations and ensuring that customers remain satisfied.
Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from Middle Tennessee State University, Steve adeptly merges his technical astuteness with profound industry insights, driving innovation and enhancing the efficiency of the company’s operations.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Steve enjoys the opportunity to ride his bike along the scenic pathways of Sunset Beach, where he resides with his wife of 20 years, their two spirited Yorkshire Terriers, and cat. Steve is also passionate about horse racing and is an avid supporter of his favorite college football team, LSU.
Taleen Shubin
Chief Operations Officer
As Chief Operations Offficer, Taleen oversees and establishes office functions, processes, procedures, and office personnel.
Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, she learned valuable business lessons from an early age, including leadership, ownership, hard work, outside-the-box thinking, attention to detail, and the importance of outstanding customer service. Taleen brings an infectious enthusiasm to each day’s challenges, welcoming the opportunity to analyze and solve problems using a variety of organizational tools and tactics.
Taleen has developed and implemented a new proprietary office construction software for Golden State Surfaces, Inc.’, GC sister company. The intention of the software is to provide accuracy & efficiency with the ability to follow up and organize project information while keeping the flexibility of an ever-changing business clientele. While the project has been ambitious and the process lengthy, her hard work is paying off with the next stop including conversion, implementation and usage for support in the flooring arena. Taleen knows the importance that details play in the high quality of care given to each and every project and to our clients.
When Taleen is not busy at the office, she likes nothing better than spending time with her three children, especially now that they’re all grown up and pursuing successful careers and families of their own. She and her husband live in Fountain Valley with their sweet dog Sadie and never tire of watching country concerts and sunsets, wherever they happen to be.
Todd Shubin
Sales Manager
With a career spanning decades, Todd has been a driving force in sales and team leadership. Since joining Golden State Surfaces as a Sales Manager, Todd is tasked with building a gold standard team while using his planning and organizational skills to ensure that every project operates with precision and efficiency.
Todd’s professional journey began at the age of 15 in a local grocery store in Fountain Valley, where he developed a strong work ethic that has become the cornerstone of his career. He brings over 22 years of experience from his prior position at Peet’s Coffee, where he thrived as a Regional Sales Manager. In this role, Todd successfully led a diverse team of more than 40 across various regions in mainly Southern California and Nevada, but all over the United States. His leadership style emphasizes strategic planning, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative environment.
A lifelong resident of Fountain Valley, Todd is deeply committed to his community and family. He and his wife have raised three children during their 29 years of marriage. Outside of work, Todd enjoys playing pickleball, golfing, and participating in fantasy football. He is also a passionate supporter of his favorite sports teams, the Dodgers and Broncos.
Alyssa Chapman
Administrative Assistant
Alyssa has been an invaluable Administrative Assistant since 2019, bringing her expertise in project management, billing, insurance, and receivables to the organization. Her strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, and exceptional problem-solving skills have established her as a key asset to the team.
Her career began at 16 in a property management group, where she gained invaluable experience throughout high school. Alyssa later took on a part-time role at a financial management group during her college years, eventually transitioning to a full-time position until she graduated from California State University Channel Islands in 2011 with dual degrees in Psychology and History.
Outside of work, Alyssa is dedicated to her family, homeschooling her two children and actively participating in their swim activities. She enjoys traveling, exploring nature, and attending concerts, with favorites including Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.
Residing in Huntington Beach with her husband of 11 years, Alyssa expertly balances her professional responsibilities with her family life, embodying dedication and enthusiasm in all her endeavors.
Tanya Loudenback
Controller
As the Controller at GSS since 2022, Tanya brings a meticulous attention to detail and a logical approach to financial management. Known for her perfectionism and collaborative spirit, she thrives in team environments and is dedicated to driving operational excellence.
Her passion for business began at a young age, as she pursued various entrepreneurial activities starting at just 9 years old. This early exposure laid the foundation for her career in finance and management. Tanya attended Golden West College, where she majored in Business, further enhancing her expertise in the field.
Residing in Fountain Valley, Tanya has been happily married for 27 years and has raised two wonderful sons. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, spending quality moments with her family and friends, and cherishing time with her beloved dog, Dash.
For leisure, she loves to travel, go boating, and attend concerts, embracing new experiences and making lasting memories along the way.
